Proving that 2008 has produced many films with brilliant performances, Reel Reviews has come up with a shortlist of nominated actors and actresses last month.
After a critical look at the nominees, here are the year's Best Actor and Best Actress:
BEST ACTOR - Sean Penn as Harvey Milk in Milk
BEST ACTRESS - Sally Hawkins as Poppy in Happy-Go-Lucky
Incidentally, Penn and Hawkins have won the top three U.S. critics' groups (LA, New York, National Society) awards for their performances. Both are nominated for Golden Globe Awards next Monday, Jan. 12.
